Total Flooding CO₂ System

A Total Flooding CO₂ Fire Suppression System is a fixed fire protection system designed to rapidly extinguish fires by discharging carbon dioxide (CO₂) into an enclosed or semi-enclosed space. The system works by reducing the oxygen concentration within the protected area to a level that prevents combustion while also providing a cooling effect. It is particularly effective for protecting high-value assets and areas containing electrical equipment where water or foam-based extinguishing agents could cause damage. Typical applications include electrical switchgear rooms, control rooms, generator rooms, turbine enclosures, cable galleries, engine rooms, paint booths, and flammable liquid storage areas. The system consists of CO₂ storage cylinders, a manifold, control valves, discharge piping, nozzles, detection devices, manual and automatic release mechanisms, warning alarms, time-delay units, pressure-operated devices, and a fire detection and control panel. Upon detection of a fire through heat or smoke detectors, or by manual activation, the control panel initiates audible and visual alarms, followed by a preset evacuation delay. After the delay, the main cylinder valve opens, allowing CO₂ to flow through the piping network and discharge evenly through specially designed nozzles to achieve the required extinguishing concentration throughout the protected enclosure.
