Stored-Pressure Clean Agent System

A Stored-Pressure Clean Agent System is a self-pressurized fire suppression system in which the extinguishing agent (e.g., FK-5-1-12 / Novec 1230, HFC-227ea) is stored within the cylinder under its own vapor pressure or with an integral pressurizing gas. The system does not require an external pilot cylinder or nitrogen actuation. Fire detection is typically achieved through linear heat detection tubing or approved thermal / electrical detectors. Upon exposure to a preset temperature, the detection element ruptures or actuates the valve, causing direct discharge of the clean agent through tubing or discharge ports directly into the protected hazard. The clean agent suppresses fire primarily by heat absorption and interruption of the combustion chain reaction, without reducing oxygen concentration to unsafe levels. The system is designed for localized, enclosed, or equipment-level protection such as electrical panels, server racks, UPS systems, MCCs, and CNC machines. Stored-pressure systems are valued for their compact design, low operating pressure, fast response time, minimal piping, zero residue, and reduced installation complexity, and are compliant with NFPA 2001, ISO 14520, and applicable UL/FM guidelines when properly designed and installed.
