CO2 FIXED FIRE FIGHTING SYSTEM

A CO₂ fixed fire fighting system is a total flooding or local application fire suppression system that uses carbon dioxide gas to extinguish fires by reducing the oxygen concentration in the protected area and, to a lesser extent, by providing a cooling effect. The system typically consists of high-pressure CO₂ storage cylinders, a manifold and piping network, discharge nozzles, control valves, and an automatic or manual actuation mechanism. Upon detection of fire, through heat, smoke, or flame detectors or manual activation, the system releases CO₂ gas into the enclosed hazard area in a calculated quantity designed to achieve a specific concentration sufficient to suppress combustion. Because CO₂ is electrically non-conductive and leaves no residue, it is especially suitable for protecting electrical equipment, engine rooms, control rooms, and flammable liquid storage areas. The system is designed in accordance with safety standards to include alarms, time delays, and evacuation warnings, as high concentrations of CO₂ can be hazardous to human life.
